Amira Ali from Beit Jala, Palestine

Amira – our first Palestinian volunteer – has been in Germany since September 2013. She was then welcomed by Augenhöhe representatives and prepared for her service at an introductory seminar in the Odenwald. Amira serves at Postillion e.V. in Ladenburg, where she supports the nursery group “Igelchen”.
Following the preparation seminar, Amira wrote the following introduction about herself:
My name is Amira Ali and I am 18 years old. I am from Palestine and live in the Bethlehem area. Last year I completed the International German Diploma at Talitha Kumi – a Lutheran school in Beit Jala – which means that I met all the requirements for a German Abitur. I spent a total of ten years at Talitha Kumi. Now I´m looking forward to living in Germany for a year, and hope to improve my German skills even more. I am excited about getting to know the German culture and people. I am the first volunteer for Augenhöhe e.V. and will be working in a nursery. I am glad for the opportunity to experience all of this and to support the organisation.
